This looks like a good deal to me if you have the room. I know I would be interested if I was close as I'm still looking for a Credenza. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/clt/3495683489.html

If that was within 500 miles of me, it would be in my basement tomorrow! There's always room for a machine like that.

The Borgia II is a Credenza (8-30) on steroids.
It originally sold for a whopping $1000 in 1925-6, as compared to around $300 for the Credenza.
The Borgia II or Nine-Two is 44 inches wide, so a decent amount of room is needed.
If I was thirty years younger I'd walk to San Diego (from New Jersey) and carry it home on my back.
Anyone driving from San Diego to New Jersey with a large van??????

Glad you picked it up. Can't wait to see the pictures. It would have been in my collection if it were anywhere close to me.

Nice looking machine if you have the room. I think I do but my wife knows otherwise.
Good luck and great buy to whomever is successful.

Agreed on a price and I am going to pick it up tomorrow morning. The seller's family is the original owners of the machine and the pics he sent, the machine is in very good shape. More tomorrow

Picked it up yesterday and by picking it up, it took me and 2 sons to lift the machine into the truck. It's heavy one at that. The seller said the machine was purchased by his grand parents in 1925-1926 time and that it went from them to his aunt and then him and has had it for the last 25 years. The machine was never placed in storage and is in incredible condition ( gold plating clean, finish in great shape) and the only thing I found that is not working right is the speed control for the turntable which I think should be a easy fix. It has a interesting radio tuner, double dials and works nicely with most of the original tubes.

He gave me an original 9-40 manual with the machine as well as a appraisal he had done by Paul Eddie and Robert Baumbach. It also cam with 7 tins full of tung-tone needles in good shape, the storage albums and the original quality tag.

His original pics did not show the reproducer very well but to my pleasant surprise, it is a brass type reproducer. I will be starting a new thread in the machines forum after I get some time to take a few pics of the units.

Brandt,
Congratulations!
Well Done!
Sounds like a super find with several nice extras.
It is so nice to know the entire history of the machine.
The brass reproducer almost covers the asking price.
Make sure you let your wife know that you need to rest your back by watching playoff football after moving such a big machine. :D
Can't wait to see the photos!
I am on the hunt for an 8-60 that has the similar ability to switch from acoustic to amplified sound.

That machine was in my backyard for quite some time. I just didn't have the room for it. Glad a board member picked it up. Some pics would be great when you have the time.
