Against all my rules

Those of you that know me, know my feelings on collecting. It's all good as long as it's Berliner and some Victor's. Now don't get me wrong. I love to look at other makes and models. I just decided to stick with this narrow window to keep the clutter down and the Wife happy.
I'm sure those of you that have "failed" in either know what I mean.
HOWEVER, in light of the new Fireside and given it's over all size......I have decided "if" I can get a two piece "L" crane to fit into the hole and a red Fireside horn......I would keep her. That's right!!!.....your are reading Phono history here. I just hope my Wife never reads this.
Some of you have PMed me suggesting just that....."keep it".
So, if you have a red two piece horn or a rod crane.....PM me. I also need the set screw that holds the crane from lifting out. I will also keep my eyes open on Ebay.

By the way......we will just keep this to ourselves..... ;).

I know Ron Sitko has both repro cranes and horns, which you can buy painted or unpainted. I believe a painted horn and crane is about $160-175 plus shipping. The guy who paints his horns does a beautiful job, too. He may even have the screw that holds the crane in place. 518-371-8549.

Hope this helps!

Sean, thanks. I thought about contacting Ron. However, given the condition of the machine....I will try first to get an original. If not....I will go that route. I may give the machine to my Mother to display once complete. Since the holes in the back were never used (cygnet crane). I decided not to use them either.

Gram78 I agree wih you. Neither is common but I think the smaller original maroon horn on that machine is more attractive and less common than with a cygnet. The original small cranes and horns do turn up on ebay from time to time but especially the horns are pretty high. Also, I think half the "original" Fireside cranes that show up on ebay are just repros with a bit of rust added so be careful!

Anyway, given your luck, just wait a day or two and someone will call you saying the've got the combo, never seen daylight, never unwrapped from the original shipping box!
