My latest Phono Addition!

I just added this nice little Edison 2-Clip Standard to my collection. It has a good sounding Automatic reproducer and one of the quietest motors I have come across. Can anyone tell me the date that it left the factory from the serial number? It is S 17061.
thank
Pete

Very nice. I'd like to know when mine was manufactured too if it's possible to tell. The SN is S16464.

Here's a picture. http://phonographcompany.com/index.php? ... facturer=2

Standard No.16464 and No.16464 both left the factory about January 1900. They were really cranking them out at that point.

Geez, if they all shared the same serial number, we will never know how many were made!

Back on subject, you have a nice machine!

Back off subject, where did you get the Tim Horton cylinder? :D

Out of spotting Standards for the past six years, the highest number I've noted on a 2 Clip Standard is 19448. There are two exceptions in this range that are in 4 Clip cases. This is out of 54 examples. After that, my list has one more 2 Clip machine: number 20760. This is by no means conclusive as it is so easy to swap cases on these early machines, but should at least give you a general starting point.

flashpanblue: Congratulations! Getting one to operate quietly is quite a trick!

Valecnik: If you hadn't said that it had an Automatic reproducer, I would have guessed it was a Standard Speaker with that locating pin on the face of it. Very neat!

Oh, crappola! I meant No.16464 and No. 17061 left the factory about January 1900! No more multitasking...
