Maybe not the most memorable of tunes but recorded 100 years ago this February, this early pressing still sounds pretty good today.

I can't get this to play, but I know the recording well. In college, I wrote a paper about "coon songs" and this song featured prominently in it.

Hmmm... It works for me just now. I can't see anything wrong. All I can say is to try again.

One of my favorite records, I have several different versions of it on various labels and formats. I had previously never heard the DD version, thanks for posting it!
Here is the Edison Cylinder version for comparison:

Ah, yes: I have this on a Columbia from the early '20s....
I remember, during my school days, I thoughtlessly played this for an African-American classmate: one of my most embarrassing memories.....

Haha! I had a similar experience when I got "All Coons Look Alike to Me" stuck in my head. Luckily I caught myself as I was singing it to myself while walking down the hallway in senior high.

I must confess I did have some reservations uploading "Coon Songs" to my youTube channel, a bit concerned that someone might take offense or jump to the incorrect conclusion that posting them somehow reflected personal beliefs. I don't know of any problems caused though. After all they are interesting historically, interesting that it was considered okay to sell music like that and use some of the words they use.

I actually don't see any problem with enjoying the music. Yes, it is not correct by today's standards and I personally don't share the views , but you kind of have to put yourself in the mindset of the time period anyway. Plus, I'm Polish so I'm used to people making ethnic jokes
