Hi,
We have The New Compton Zonophone, it isn't in great condition (outside), but looks good internally. Please could someone give me an idea of value and the best place to advertise for it to go to someone who would appreciate it. We are leaving the country and are selling everything sadly!.
Great website, fascinating stuff!
Thanks
Noel.

Based on the machines name and the dealer tag.....my guess is the UK or Australia.

HI! Noel!!
This gramophone has polish roots:)
It probably belonged to Leon Pogonowski, polish composer and writer, who emigrate do Australia.
I'm from Poland so maybe it's a good idea if the gramohone came back to where it comes from:)

L. A. Pogonowski would have been the music dealer who sold this machine, and judging by the plate he must have been quite prosperous to have two stores.

Hi,
Interesting! Polish roots!
We are in Australia - (good guess) - in NSW.
Thanks.

So the machine probably travelled there with some Polish immigrants, in a steamer trunk with their other worldly possessions wrapped around it.

Judging by the street names, this machine was not in Poland.
