Flonzaley Qt - Molly on the Shore (1918)

Another fun disc from my up and coming YouTube channel. The Flonzaley Quartet plays Grainger's "Molly on the Shore". The transfer itself is around 3 years old, I recall having to spend 2 hours on it. The disc itself is cracked from edge to the outer rim of the label. If it wasn't one of my absolute favorite pieces I would have bade it farewell

I don't mean to tell you your mess, but you could safely bid it farewell, that seems to be a very common record. I have a couple copies, one on U.S. Victor and one Canadian.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, by all means. To be honest this is the only copy I've run across in 5 years.

Lovely stuff, thanks for posting.
Anything written, arranged or played by Percy Grainger is usually wonderful.
I have various later Flonzaley Quartet sets - fine spirited playing, often a lot more vibrant than the majority of chamber music on 78s.

And here's Grainger himself:

Thank you so much for posting that. I've been wanting to find/hear that recording for years. I love Grainger's music. It first struck my interest when I heard Maud Powell's recording of "Molly on the Shore". Needless to say I find his music very uplifting and pensive at times (though I would be leery to have my children around the man

)
