Another fine gramophone ridiculed by me over 20 years ago. Sorry about quality, but photographed from original. These Cascade machines were very good for 10 and a half quid, when they were made. Very few around now- I have still to see a "sideboard" model.

I must say I think I would prefer this one over the flamephone any day! My understanding is that the cascade machines were pretty top notch, if you had a space wide enough for the horn. Mind you, you needed a space tall enough for an EMG as an alternative. It was a tough existence for the early audiophile wasn't it?! Do you own one of these, or did it just capture your imagination? It is on my list of 'must-see' machines.

Anyone who thinks an EMG/Expert is ugly has not seen a Cascade!

The Cascade III required over 7 feet of floor space, but the makers suggested that the horn could be "hung vertically (mouth upwards) in a loop of string on a nail in any out of the way corner, with ease, without the slightest inconvenience to anyone."

I am sure we all have such a corner in our modern houses, don't we?

A collector near me has one - I'm hoping to see it one day! No idea which model as yet.

I'm a big fan of the Cascades. They easily compare with EMG and Expert and in my opinion are superior.

I'm always looking for a Cascade III. My dream gramophone.

..chunny-the odd conversion jobbie that you have,passed through my hands a few years ago. Made for a London Dance Hall I was told. I am so glad you have been able to do something with it. It was found in an antique warehose in the town of Wells, some years ago. Bit big for most peaoples homes though!!
