We had some friends over for dinner tonight and we were looking at my collection and I was asked what the general value of my victor 17 was? And I honestly didn't know, I have a idea but wanted to see what others thought. It's all original as the finish goes, I had the 4spring motor cleaned and regreased and. Rebuilt the reproducer as well
The finish is very nice nothing broken
Just curious what others thought who own the victor 17 thought?

Prices have fallen. I can remember when $1000 was a good price to pay for one about 10 years ago. I've seen them go for half that recently for just a nice machine. I paid $900 about five or six years ago for a completely perfect original right down to the key and complete albums full of records with the index all filled out with the right stuff. The guy even kept the sales receipt and the duster that was given with the machine. It also has packs and tins of Victor needles that were never even opened, he used bamboo needles mostly, it seems, since it also had the Victor cutter with the box and a bunch of packs of them. I don't regret that purchase for a second!

There was a VV-XVII at the Orlando show this year, if I remember correctly, priced under $400 and it was (on the surface at least) in fairly decent shape. I would have bought it, but no room for it. I thought that was a terribly low price, though, so there may have been some faults I did not pick up on in a cursory look at it.

I think it was two years ago or maybe even last year at Wayne, there was one that had no albums but was otherwise complete and very nice needing nothing more than the usual cleaning for $500-ish. It sold before I left.
