Wow, Great old song..

Gee, Are all HMV machines that loud? My Edisons are so quiet, You can barely hear them run... That old HMV is freaking loud running! The music barely drowns it out..!

Maybe is has a worn worm gear that needs replacement?

:o)

Thanks for the great song! I enjoyed it!

1921 was only the year the label design was copyrighted, nothing to do with the date of recording or release of a given record. According to this this side was recorded 18th November 1925.

Thank's NEFaurora (Tony), for the suggestion!

In my haste to post my new machine, I didn't take the time to thoroughly go thru the motor.
I have tried several adjustments and just couldn't get it to quiet down, (I think the brass spindle gear got bounced around into the worm gear because of poor packing by the shipper).

I have since replaced the worm gear and the brass spindle gear with parts from a doner motor, and it has quieted down considerably. I will repost the Youtube when I get a chance.

Thanks Again, Bob S.

Actually, this is still an acoustic recording. Plaza didn't start with electrical recording until 10/23/25, five days after this recording. It was also released on Domino and Banner simultaneously 2/26.

Beautiful machine and a fun record. That song must have had a long life. I vaguely remember a revival recording being very popular in the late 40s or early 50s.
