Customer: "I have a Chevy to sell. It has 4 wheels and 2 doors. How much is it worth?"
Expert: "Chevys in good condition can sell between $10,000 and $50,000. Here is a Chevy Volt listed for $25,000 and there is a Chevy Tahoe listed for 38,000. If your Chevy is in nice condition I would ask $30,000 to $40,000. Have a great day."

Yes, that would explain some unrealistic expectations.

well thats the problem when asking so-called experts who basicaly only deal with antiques now a phonograph is quite different to a biedemaier or regent tea cabinet
as a expert in phonographs i always ask for pictures i need to see it please sent foto's of all sides left-right-above-under and close-ups of the upper works
now for a lay person a edison standard looks the same as a edison fireside
how many times did this happen to you a person says hey! i got a his masters voice gramophone for you its realy old! , you go with the guy and.... its a beat up Pathé nice but no monarch!
