I purchased the repair service on Ebay from Peter Wall on the 5th. Haven't heard anything back and have emailed twice since then. Anyone know what has happened? I have not had any dealings with Peter before but can tell from his feedback and the comments here that something must have happened to him. Anyone here know him personally? Thanks, Jan

I used him last year. He did an excellent job. His communication was slow, but pretty good once he responded. Took a little longer than expected to get my repro back. But it was worth the wait. Had I known the length of time it would take up front, it would have saved me a lot of concern. It sounded much better than before, and he used quality materials to repair the repro. The back flange looked very similar to an original, much "fatter" and protruded from the back casing for about 3mm. The rubber was very pliable, and I think this gave it a better seal on the tone arm.
I ordered the service in September, but had to wait a week or so to get an email for where to send the repro. I sent the repro to him in early October, and got it back in December. I need another one done, and thought of contacting him again. PM me if you need his email/phone #.

I just spoke with him last week. I hope nothing has happened since then. Communication may be a little slow but the work is premium. Well worth the wait.

I was just concerned that something had happened to him. Maybe he's just back logged. Anyway, I don't mind waiting as I've heard good things about his work. Thanks.

I also purchased the orthophonic repair service on ebay on March 11. Just like phonogal I have not received any communication whatsoever from Peter.
Sounds like no one here has talked to him for a week. If this is normal for him then OK, but if not then maybe one of his friends here could pay him a courtesy call.

As a sometime reproducer rebuilder for folks, I can tell you that sometimes "life" gets in the way of our sidework. I always try to make sure my customers know what's going on, sometimes other things happen. Work, household stuff, a sudden inheritance of 10,000 78s and the resulting struggle to find / make room

, you never know. I've heard nothing but praise about Peter's work and I've heard a couple of his rebuilds, they're great. Proper rebuilding often takes more time than many realize, I test my rebuilds extensively after I've finished and tweak as needed. In other words, perfection tied in with other duties and priorities can take some time, it's usually worth waiting for.
And just to balance things a tad, I've been on the "waiting" and "incommunicado" side of having things rebuilt for me as well. I know it can be a rather anxious experience, but it's always been worth the wait!

I think it will all turn out well.
Peter is a good guy, I have dealt with him
a fair amount before. Have talked to him many
times on the phone, have bought parts from him.
I have used his stratena to rebuild recorders
and it works very nicely.
Peter will eventually come through for you,
sometimes he is not the quickest to respond
but he does make good on all things.

I was also skeptical when I did the ebay repair for my Japanese Victor Orthophonic.
But I have to tell you Peter is very knowledgeable and did a excellent job rebuilding the reproducer, it sounds like a good am radio or electric machine!
I am confident that anyone that uses his services for their Orthophonic are getting good work and it was very reasonable in price.
That's just my experience.

Victrolacollector I'm not questioning Peter's work as I've only heard good things about it and had no hesitation about ordering. My question was about whether something has happened to him. I ordered on the 5th of March and haven't heard anything from him. Usually you will hear something in 2 or 3 days after a purchase on Ebay.

The best I remember it took a little while for him to get back to me, but I hope Peter is going well.
