Hi folks,

There is one on the local CL and it looks to be all original and in VG condition. I know these machines are not rare or particularly valuable, is $185 too much?

I would consider $185 to be a reasonable price for a decent VI, and people will often take less for Craigslist items if you care to dicker a little, say offering $150 cash.

I would bet that it has been refinished. As to whether you like that or not is of course up to you. Some do. Some don't. From the pictures it looks like they did a fairly good job.

I notice that the top plate looks different than the one on my VI, but that may be because mine was made a couple of years later.

Adding a picture from the listing for future reference when the listing is long gone.

I've been infected with some strange desire to have more of these wonderful machines.

I don't know about playing that late issue RCA Victor record from the 50's on there. lol

Anyways, I think $ 150-200 is fair on a VV-VI thats in unrestored condition.

The early VV-VI models with the forward crank and older 10" turntable and tone arm seems to go for a little more, I have seen them in the 400.00 range.

I think the price is OK, but I'm selling one in original finish for $175.

I'm curious about the price estimates above though... would you really value a VI at 150 to 200 while valuing basic floor models like X's and XI's in about the same range, as I've read in other threads over the past several weeks?

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I can't see anyone on the West Coast (or even the forum members I can think of) paying that. In fact you would be hard pressed to get half that for a machine like this. Even less if a dealer was to buy it. Now, that said.....what would the "dealers" on this forum pay for this or would you even buy it??.
Asking opinions about "price" on this forum will only muddy the water on a machine you may want to own. Worth is only what you and the seller are happy with. In Germany the machine might be worth $500 (just joking) but, I think you get the point.
Ebay, auctions,etc.... are the only "real" way to see what machine's "sell" for. However, even that does not take into account how bad you want a certain machine and therefore will pay more.

I'd say that things being equal a VI, an IX and an X are worth about the same. They are all very common.
