You live in a great area for antiques. We drove to Reading, PA to pick up some things and the antiquing in that area was amazing. I'd be patient and watch craigslist for a good machine. I just checked your area and nothing jumped out at me with the exception of a $500 Credenza.

If you want a real adventure, take in the Union show. I think it's about 500 miles for you. There usually are not too many oak Xs or XIs but if you pre-purchased one it could be delivered there. Many collectors drive a great distance and a more common Victrola takes up too much valuable space unless you know its going home with a new owner. I bet many of us could make a few phone calls and find a very nice oak Victrola XI for a reasonable price. If you're a serious phono-nerd be there Friday morning. If not be there Saturday morning and stay for the open house at Jasper's on Saturday evening. It's a wonderful experience. Jerry Blais

I'm not sure if
this VV-XI on Craigslist is oak. Can anyone tell? It is much lighter than my mahogany VV-XI.

Is that a mahogany machine stained to look like walnut? It's very attractive. Jerry

I'd say it is definitely walnut. Victor seems to have used straight grained mahogany with a "ribbon" figure - this machine has a more complicated figure.

That is a very nice one.
I will keep an eye on Craigslist for an oak model, let me know if you have one to sell.

Just went to the listing and noticed the serial number (852259) is very near the end of production for the XI. Also, walnut is very unusual in this model! I'd say it's worth what he's asking. See further
