First, do you actually have a model C Standard - with a serial number ending in "C" and no endgate on the right end of the mandrel - or are you assuming you have a model C because the metal tab on the reproducer says Model C? The reproducer model and machine model are unrelated.

If you do have a model C Standard, then as sent from the factory, it plays only 2 minute records. However, many of these have been upgraded to play both 2 and 4 minute records. Model C machines were only available for about a year because they came out right before the 4 minute wax Amberols were available.

If you in fact have a model A or B Standard with a model C reproducer, again, it will only play 4 minute records if it has been upgraded to do so.

In any case, the stylus on a model C reproducer is too wide to use on a 4 minute record. You will need a model H reproducer (or similar) to do that.

Lastly, if in fact you have a "recorder" as described in your post title, don't use it to play records. A recorded is used to make home recordings and the sharp point will destroy recored cylinders.
