Does anyone know what model this is and for what country. Seems like it was a good buy. Stephen

Looks like an early VV-IX as the turntable appears to be 12 inches with the slight different ring color to the felt around the outside edge. What is odd is the serial number plate is missing which is pretty uncommon but the needle cup for disposing the used needles is there and those are almost always missing in my experience. Were there other pictures. I seem to see light coming through the lid so maybe lid damage.

HMV Model 8 is my best guess.

I think it might be an VIII (8)...

I believe this one has the "Crecsent" speed control, which is a 1915-ish feature, by which time the XI had "feet".

The lid decal doesn't look like the one in my 1915 XI...

The details I'm referring to would be for American production...

?

My best guess would also be HMV Table Grand Model 8 or maybe a predecessor of it. I only have the HMV 1921-1936 reference book. One of the UK collectors who owns the new HMV book can probably verify.
