A Word of Praise

Last October, I dropped off an Edison Triumph D-2 to Gregg Cline for a complete once-over. The machine had filthy plating, a horribly dismal looking bedplate, it wouldn't run properly and the finish was basically beyond hope. I had bought it five or so years ago just to enjoy, but I finally decided to take the plunge and have it done after the mechanism would rattle and do other odd things while it was playing. Gregg did everything on this machine - EVERYTHING. It needed it. The results were so amazing to me that I wanted to share a few shots (sorry, it was so horrible looking that I never took any of it "before"). A top-notch job and at an extremely reasonable price. My hat's off to Gregg. I'd recommend him to anyone who has a machine that needs complete restoration. It plays silently and beautifully now, too. The horn is a Don Gfell horn I bought a few years ago, Gregg matched the finish colors perfectly.

These photos were taken with a flash, so it's a bit brighter in the photos.

Looks great Sean. That says volumes from a guy that knows little about cylinder.... I also like how neat and tidy you keep your records.... One thing I am curious about.....why did you not grain the horn elbow??.

If I had thought of it sooner, I would have brought it to Gregg to do for me, perhaps the next show...or perhaps sooner, it's at least small enough to send in the mail!

Gregg sure did a great job with that. I would ship the elbow to Gregg and pick it up at the next show.

Great job indeed. Any "before" pics you could post?

I didn't take any specifically, I'd have to do some serious digging to see if I have any! I'll check later...

Sean I believe I saw this machine when you gave me the tour, and it was very very dark and dingy. Looked almost black all over.

Here is a YouTube video featuring the Triumph in question. I saw it in person before it was done (in fact, I think I may have carried it to the car for Sean to bring to Gregg last October) and it's like night and day. Awesome job.

I forgot about that video! That was done just after I had it "repaired" the first time.I think I may have a photo or two as well. I'll try to look a little later.

Found some! These make it look much better than it was, but it gives you an idea.
