Edison lamp shade - 1954 ??

What do you all make of this vintage lamp shade? Yep - I said lamp shade. A 1954 lamp shade. I spotted one of these a few years back in very tattered condition selling for over $200.00 at an antique show in New York. They were made for the 1954 Thomas EDison light bulb diamond jubilee. My wife may finally kill me now since I bought one (NOS)!
