Hmmmmm. This looks like the machine that is owned by a Southern California collector. He has all pink lamberts in his auxetophone. Seems fishy.

This is the same prank portland craigslist poster that's previous listed an " Auxetophone" Edison Opera and other Auxetophone ___ (fill in the blank with a rare machine). Jerry

Definitely not an Auxetophone of any sort, but a Multiphone. I agree with Jerry.

Humm. Or it could be a substantial bargain worth checking out. But if I went I would want some burley friends to go with me, as it could also be a setup for a robbery. The picture of the beast from the ad is below.

Definitely fraud. That machine is in a well-known collection. A lot of people have had the pleasure of seeing it in person. It is most definitely not for sale, and not in Oregon.

An absolute fraud. As others have said, this machine is in a well-known collection in another state. I've seen it myself several times. If you are in the Portland area, DO NOT make any plans to meet up with this Craigslist crook at a "storage locker in Gateway" with $9000 in your pocket.
It would, however, be great fun to show up with a couple of cops in the back of the van...

In the past he has give an address that put you at an absurd location and provided a phone number to an unsuspecting party. Another time he told a prospective buyer that a collector in Albany (I'm the only one) already bought the item. I suspect it's someone local to Portland or the Northwest that enjoys the hoax. I don't think it's done for monetary gains. The last so called auxetophone appeared on craigslist a couple of years ago and this is about the forth one listed. It is interesting that two incomplete Auxetophones surfaced in Portland a few years ago. Stan S. bought a fancy cased one that was missing the blower unit. A few months later, Bob C. purchased an empty cabinet that he traded to me. I don't know if there is any connection with the hoax. Jerry
