Does this look ok? It doesn't appear to have a traveling arm- the horn sits directly on the super-long metal support arm. I was unsure if Victor made machines with a set up like this?

No - something has been cobbed together.

Victor did offer extensions for larger horns. This horn support arm looks possibly right.

Well, it is a large Victor "Front Mount" horn. Note the threaded end, and what appears to be a correct Victor horn elbow.

Note that some very long Victor carrier arms have turned up from time to time, sized for horns as long as long as thirty-six inches.

Columbia also offered long horns, but generally the Columia units were made of aluminum so that they would tend to wear the records less.

I know very little about external horn machines, but it looks as though there are several screw holes next to that support.

I think the parts are all legit, but not put together properly- plus a nasty spray paint job on that horn. It should be possible to take a reproduction traveling arm and put in a longer oak section.

Yes. After late 1902 'most all Victor machines bore these extra holes, which were generally covered by a plate which carried the legend "Remove this plate to attach rigid arm".

These plates are much in demand, as they are easily detached and satisfactory reproductions have to been made for many years.
