I've been making these tinigs out of odd radio horns for some years, now. Of course I would never use a Magnavox horn, but any other horn which is without its base, and which no longer retai s it's original paint is fair game to me. Same thing is true of common cylinder phonograph horns which are in deteriorated condition. At least it is some use for the things. After all, who would bother to display, say, a H & S horn which had lost its finish, and had a broken end? Using up our junk in this manner will hopefully keep at least some of the good stuff being similarly modified to meet the current fad, which wI doubt shall be too long-lived.
