A very nice and harmonic take. That is also the song of the 1860 phonautograph recording. Thanks for posting!

I am a big fan of Edmond Clement. He didn't have a big voice...a French tenor.... but it is very lovely and he used it intelligently: he's a real musician...which can be unusual in a tenor His recording of Vainement ma bien-aimee from Le Roi d'Ys is one of the discs I would take were I to be exiled to a desert island. Clement is one of those singers with John McCormack and Reinald Werrenrath diction: you can understand every word. He's also one who suffers when he's played too fast: he sounds like Minnie Mouse.

I have my own copy of this that I haven't played for several years, thanks for reminding me of it. It's a very relaxed, but pleasant and satisfying take on this song.
