How can you say that? Those authentic 1905 Plexiglas domes are very, very rare!

Honestly, I have seen uglier. The frustrating thing is that it was very nearly a decent restoration. The finish (while not stellar) looks OK. If only the restorer had bothered to do a little more homework to get the right decals (and number of them), it would have been fine. (I must admit I don't get the plastic "dome of silence".)

On a more positive note, perhaps the machine has been rendered bullet-proof.

I believe the lid once belonged on Wonder Woman's cylinder player installed in her invisible airplane.

Guys, this is NOTHING compared to "restorations" in the old days when proper parts weren't so easy to find. Think of:

Cases over coated with Spar Varnish (it never completely hardens)

Missing cranks replaced with welded together scrap painted with any kind of black paint - in fact, think of ANY metal part painted with off the shelf black paint except:

Nickle plate covered with radiator paint.

Gold plate covered with gold paint

Decals touched up with gold paint

Horns painted with house paint

Water slide decals on horns

You get the picture - these days we're living in the Golden Age.
