Hello,
I have a crank that could be for a Standard talking machine( see picture) But I am not sure. Can someone post a picture of what the correct crank is supposed to look like.

That certainly looks like the right one as the engagement to the motor looks like the welded up one I have.

Yes, The crank pictured is the correct crank. The Standard Talking Machine X and X2 never has a crank escutcheon on the case.

Harvey, are you certain about this? I have two Standard X/X2 cases and one of them has a crank escutcheon. It certainly looks like it was always there. It is similar in style but not identical to that in an Edison Cylinder Phonograph. I've also seen several for sale with the exact same style escutcheon. Of course, they could have been added later, but would all add the same style escutcheon?
Thanks
Andreas

I have both the Standard X and X2 and they don't have escutcheons, There was never any indication that they ever had one. I also have seen these machines in other collections, and never saw on with an escutcheon. Now, the rear mount Standard A had an escutcheon.

I had read from earlier threads that there wasn't a escutcheon on this mode but I have also seen some machines with them and on the case I have for this unit you can see the outline that was left on the finish that it had one. Maybe it was pulled as the crank for the unit as found was one of those welded up and painted in gold paint monstrosities.
