Pretty common machine as portables go; they are not rare or anything....

Very common, probably many thousands made in the 1930's - 1940's. If the reproducer is in good condition these will play a record decently but not exceptionally. They are commonly found in cases covered with striped canvas - when in good shape this is very attractive. If it has any wear or cosmetic flaws the price should be low - under $100.00 The arm is made of pot metal, usually of good quality.


When these machine were new they were sold with a lightweight cotton cover, they rarely survive.

In addition to the comments above, the particular machine you've shown appears to be missing its lid and also looks as if it has some damage to the motor board as well. Forgive me for being blunt but, it has the appearance of a piece of junk. (I don't mean to insult you by stating that and I'm glad you sought the guidance of others first.)
