HELP with phonograph dancer toys

Hi, I want to make my own dancer toy! But I need you to explain to me just how the "engine." If you don't know me explain, please send photos. Thanks!
I have an idea, but expressing it by words is beyond my skills. you can get a repro on Ebay and study the way it works. IMHO it's the best way to see how it works. it won't be a waste as you can enjoy it on your phono.
