Oh too bad. I would have liked to have grabbed that one. Anyway I have the images so thanks for posting. I could maybe find one here with a fern on top if I pay attention.

I saw this on ebay after it posted and I bought it. The price was cheap, $8.00 with free shipping. I sent out payment and should get it soon. It was too cool to resist. I really love European machines. I think they have a lot of class and personality. I live in near Seattle WA, and a lot of European machine come here from Canada.

I love a high quality scan if you are able. I could actually find one of those stands in my neighborhood if I were really lucky!

In his book "Collecting Phonographs and Gramophones" (ISBN 0 289 70883 4) Christopher Proudfoot, speaking of the G&T Senior Monarch, gives this wise advice which applies to other machines as well :

"The matching pedestal was an optional extra, and is worth looking out in secondhand furniture shops, where it's true purpose may be unrecognised.

When I get this card, I will have one of the guys take pictures and post this to the forum. I am not that good with computers. In the back of the card is a picture of a large disk music box. The OTAPS meeting will be in October, and I will have pictures of both sides made.

Here, the original base sits on a large ebonised pedestal with green moulded panels, suitably weighted to keep it upright. The wonderful ironwork arm is a reconstruction as virtually no original examples exist and holds a 48” horn.

Sadly, for all the effort that went into its construction, it failed to catch on. Introduced in 1903-4, The Gramophone Company’s London sales office had to report that it was ‘unable to dispose of’ the 22 in stock!
