Got a photo of a friends new XIV and it has this unusual record storage bin. I'm trying to get another picture of the round storage bin. Is this original to any Victrola or is it after market?
Thanks! CDB

It might be for movie reels. I seem to recall seeing similarly designed reel storage cases when I was a kid, dabbling in old 35mm and 16mm films. But it's been about 50 years....

I've seen those pop up on eBay occasionally.
I thought that I saved images of that case.
The box is made of metal and it has a plastic handle.
Here is an English version by Winel.
It has cardboard dividers and an index page. Holds about 25 records.

I think that's more of a 1930's-40's piece, something to go with a portable phonograph.

I would love one of those for my VV-50!

I will have to concur with Rene on this one. The case in question is for movie reels. Looks like it was made by Keystone.

FYI, I have a beautiful little Keystone model K-108 8mm movie projector, vintage late 1940s, with a very similar (if not identical?) brown crinkle paint finish. Very handsome, and the machine is a delight: made in the USA, finely machined parts, quiet operation, absolutely reliable. I would expect that record canister to be just as high quality. Lucky you!

My friend sent more pictures - doesn't look like it started life as a record storage box....
