Anyone have a picture of the turntable area of one of these machines? I would like to see the tone arm and wondered if the turntable was felt-covered or used the leather stuff like an RE-45?

Mine has the regular apricot felt. I don't believe that the leather was used on any of the gold- plated turntables

The tone arm is the usual gold Orthophonic arm with overhang support, fitted with the internal bayonet contacts so as to hold the ordinary early Electrola pickup.

Uncle Vanya, Thanks for the information. The one I got at auction yesterday looks to have been modified although it looks like the tonearm might actually work OK. I was hoping that it was the correct one, but guess I'll need to find a replacement eventually. It's not in perfect condition, looks to have been stored in someplace that was really dirty/dusty, but not too bad, and uncommon..

Your machine appears to have been fitted with a Brunswick arm of 1928 or 1929 vintage, probabaly relatively recently after the original Victor pot-metal overhang support failed.

That the auction listing for that machine. Was in Tennessee?? Bob is right, pot metal arm broke and someone used a Brunswick arm. Do you know if it has the correct speaker and amplifier?? Could have a brunswick speaker too??

I was unable to have a look in the back at the auction, they had it jammed back against the wall, but it looks to me to be all right. Let me know what you think..

These are very good players when they are set up properly.

Unfortunately, mine was very badly refinished by the previous owner, and I've never had the time to get around to doing the job right.

Thanks for confirming that the mechanics are correct. Now I guess I'm looking for a tone arm for this machine, and a machine for the Brunswick tone arm!

This one is definitely not perfect, but no where near needing a refinish.

Did you ever get your tone arm and finish this machine?

I'm going through a pile of parts and may have a few bits, unless you've lost interest, in which case I'd love a shot at it.

I have a victor re-45 and the turntable leather is torn up because someone dropped the pickup on it. I was wondering where I would be able to get replacement leather.
