Tollemache Sinclair was born in 1825. He is probably the earliest born person to make a disc record. The earliest born person to make a record is General Moltke, born in 1800.

The description of Sir John as a "Talking Machine Philanthropist" in the 1907 magazine refers to his donation of 100 gramophones and 10,000 records to various hospitals, workhouses and asylums.

This and much more information can be found in an article about Sir John, published in the Summer 2013 edition of the CLPGS magazine "For the Record".
