What machine should go on the record cabinet? Look!

I bought this record cabinet today. Something with a raised border on the top generally indicates it is designed for a specific machine. The inside border measurements are 15.5" wide and 16.25" deep. The overall size is 35" tall and 18" square. Thanks, Jerry

What machine should go on the record cabinet?........Well, I guess any machine you like. So long as it fits. It's just a generic cabinet. If it were mine....the decal would have been removed and the finish put back darker than it is now.....unless it's just the Sun that is making it look so blonde in the pic...???. It even appears darker under the decal. I guess the parents refinished it back in the day to use as a night table for their child...???.

Hi Jerry!
That's a cute little record cabinet. To me, the decal really makes it special. It's a relic of this cabinet's history. That looks to be a really early version of Donald Duck. That would put the decal back to the mid 1930s. Another depression-era re-use (?) Though not original to it, the Mother Goose Kid's Victrola of the 20's might be a good candidate... Anyway, cool find.
Regards,
Martin

This was my first thought also. We already have too much restored cabinets without a history. 8(:-)

Well, I have to confess. I too am a big Disney fan. I was expecting "Tinkerbell" to have jumped all over my comment. I guess "we' are many....

. If you lose the decal Jerry your membership on here will be revoked...

.
By the way.....I really like seeing "my" Mikiphone on this thread. However, the Japanese version "Mikky-Phone" would have been better.

If a victor III would fit, it would look nice since it has that same kind of trim look around the bottom.

In looking through my copy of The Victor Data Book, only the Victrola VI is close in size (and it is very close). The Victor III was made in different sizes, but all of those cabinets were square, so this was not a cabinet for the Victor III. Of course, it could have been made for an other brand of phonograph.

One of the mid-period VV-VI machines, say a Type C through E or F should fit exactly.
