The only thing that looks remotely interesting is the bugle wound arm.

Here is a Jedson portable which I owned many years ago, so long ago that the picture was taken with a 35mm camera.

The Jedson brand was marketed by John E.Dallas & Sons of London, better known as musical instrument manufacturers.

Out of the two, I'd rather have the portable, it appears to be better quality than the cabinet one, which looks to be made of varnished plywood. They are apparently quite rare? Not surprised really, I can't imagine that they sold in great numbers in the first place!

The chromed Garrard motor mounting plate is usually a sign of quality on portables, with lesser models having the motor mounted directly onto the board.

A friend in my local motor club persuaded me to sell the machine, as the colour of the case was a perfect match for the upholstery of his vintage Lagonda.

I still have too many portables......
