I am in need of a Amberola 30 oak lid - just picked up a clean working Amberola 30 which has no lid - go figure. Owner lost the lid 30 years ago. How can one loose a lid? Anyway, he sold it to me for parts but it works & sounds great, the case and grilles are in excellent condition, it just has no lid  Anyone have a decent lid maybe from a parts machine? Brian

If nothing pops up here Brain, try George Vollema at Great Lakes Antique Phonograph. He has a big stock of parts machines.

Amberola 30 lids are notorious for having their top plywood fall off or become delaminated. That's likely what happened with yours - the owner didn't want to look at an imperfect lid and tossed it. I recently got an early 30 with exposed speed control, and it's the first 30 I've seen "in the wild" in a long time that didn't need new veneer on the lid.

I suppose it's also possible that yours was once in the Babson(?) cabinet that was designed to turn a 30 (sans lid) into an upright with record storage, but that seems unlikely.
