Listing says it an Edison Victrola... Why would someone paint this green.

It's an Edison A100 that someone painted. Here are pictures of one in mahogany and one in oak.

Its up at a local estate auction this month along with an "Edison record cabinet" which is not pictured. If the bidding stays low I'll grab it...and then head to Lowes for a few gallons of paint thinner

That refinish is called "antiquing" which was all the rage in the 1970s.

Yes, displaying it right next to the beautiful gold macrame plant holder Mom made..... . Actually, the avocado colour reminds me of the kitchen appliances of the day... .
