Questions about Standard/Columbia front mount elbow

I just noticed on eBay that on a pretty well preserved open works Standard Talking Machine the horn elbow seems to be fixed to the horn with a little thumbscrew. I checked on my Standard X and sure enough, there is a little hole in the bottom of the elbow that I never paid attention to. Does anyone know if there originally was a thumbscrew (or other screw) to fix the elbow to the horn? See attached pictures.
Thanks
Andreas

Yes, there was a screw that fitted into the elbow. They had a knurled head with no slot, similar to a thumb screw. These are frequently missing. I have one in all of my collection of Columbia front mounts. I'd love to get more. Does anyone know if they are being reproduced?

Thanks for the information Harvey. Would any of the reproducer thumbscrews work, or are they too small?

Hi, I'm taking a machinist course and I'm sure I could make repro screws at school.
I just started monday but if you can wait a little, I'd like to help you with this.
PM me if interested.

The reproducer thumbscrew is way to small. The Columbia elbow screw looks like the thumbscrew, but much bigger. I don't know the thread size, but I'm sure Leo can find out when he starts school.

I have used the brass ones used for holding glass globes in light fixtures. I do not recall the thread size right now.

I thought the same thing. I tried them, but they are to big. They look similar, though.

I think I used them on the reproductions that Jerry Madsen sold. I tapped the hole to fit the screw.

If you are interested, I made up a few for sale in the Yankee Trader section.
