I have a couple of his records and I would love to get a copy of Wheezy Anna, does anyone know if it's rare or still readily available, are there any other places online apart from ebay to buy 78's?

My favorite is "I Lift Up My Finger and Say Tweet Tweet", which he sang with Jack Hylton's Orchestra. He also wrote the song.
It sounds like it was recorded in a very large hall.

My favourite is "Ain't it grand to be blooming well dead" on Imperial 2688, written and performed by Sarony. It is not rare and should not be difficult to find.
A suitable record for next year's Halloween party perhaps?

I'll second that! It was one of John Peel's all-time favourite records too. Last year I had the delightfully mischievous pleasure of taking a gramophone into a local funeral parlour and playing that very record! (Long story...)
I will try to have a look, I might have a copy of that and/or Wheezy Anna amongst my many spares/duplicates/unwanteds...

Huh. The title of "Ain't It Grand..." rang a bell. Sure enough, it's a version of the song I'm familiar with by Alex Bartha's Hotel Traymore Orchestra, from 1932. It's credited to Shelby Darnell. The Sarony version was also recorded in 1932. Which came first?
