Does anyone know what HMV model number this is ? It is a very late gramophone with a bronzed No 16 soundbox and open fret front , the case looks like a much earlier machine , and what horn would it have ? Could it have a re entrant horn on it's side with a corner knocked off like the automatic 10 ?

It is a Model 158 dating from 1931 to 1933 according to the Oakley/Proudfoot book, Page 137. The horn is bifurcated as in the 157.

I wonder why there were so many unused 157 horns that HMV were able to create "modern" models with them? They certainly never made console models in the modern style with 163/193/202 horns in them, did they?

I'm sure I have seen this identical cabinet with doors , or am I mistaken ? and if it had doors originally was this HMV using up old cabimets ? It doesn't fit aesthetically with the other cabinets of this period
