And now for something different....
Here's Conway Twitty singing "The Next Kiss (is the last goodbye)". Recorded in 1961, it reached no.72 on the US charts. This 78 is a South African pressing.
Enjoy

Geat tune Shane and WoW - that is one late 78! I thought production ceased in most places by 1959. I guess that in SA it took a bit longer. I know that in India 78 production went on significantly into the 1960's. That way you got oddities like The Beatles on 78!
Anyways, thanks for posting

Thanks Richard. I didn't realize until tonight that it was such a late record. I'd never played it before & noticed it was a SA pressing so I looked up the date. Not only is it the latest record (that I know of) in my collection, but it's definately the loudest! It just about blows your head off on the 202

I think in the Phillipines they were pressing 78's into 64-65 also.
BTW: Thanks for the Groove Armada link. I haven't hear that song since I was a kid. i'd forgotten it even existed!

Yes, it does seem weird to hear it on Shanes 202, but hats off to the HMV designers the soundbox and horn cope well with all that volume...I think many other machines would be completely swamped by this disk.
BTW Shane - no problem regards the links. I just thought it would be interesting for people to see what other things I like to listen too. My music tastes are very diverse and ranges from operatic, dance bands etc right through to heavy metal etc at the other extreeme! As I find interesting things on youtube (be it music not covered by this forum or anything else come to that) that catches my eye I will update the links.
