Grey Gull Needles Cross the Atlantic & Back

Here is a scan that I meant to get up a while ago, as a present from
John to
Fredrik, but of course, things came up and it didn’t happen.

(Click on the image above or this link for a 600 DPI PNG [2.9 MB] suitable for printing.)
Note: Like the rest of my 600
DPI scans, you may wish to right-click on the link to the larger version, and select
‘Save Link As...’ from the context menu, to download it without having to wait for your browser to try to display it. Fortunately, this image is pretty small for me, at only 2.9 MB (about the size of a short MP3).
Please let me know if you have any questions (with regards to viewing/saving this file); ask
John about the needle packet.
If I remember correctly, they originally made it across the Atlantic to one of the Scandinavian countries, and he won them on eBay, thus returning them home to Boston. Quite a long travel for a needle packet, I think.
Enjoy.

Do you mean that the package had alreday been in Scandinavia once
before John bought it and then sent it to me (in Sweden)???
Anyway I very, very much appreciated this gift!

Fredrik,
I think that he purchased them from an eBay seller on your side of the Atlantic, but I could be mistaken.
We will have to get a definitive answer from him.
Hopefully you enjoyed the scan, though.

Fredrik,
D. got a bit mixed up. That came from a fellow board member on the West Coast of the U.S. The needle packets he was thinking of are these:

They came from Sweden. They were sold in Lynn, Mass. made it all the way to Sweden without being opened, so I thought they deserved to come home to Mass.
Here's a Google Maps image of what to location of the store looks like today.

Regards,
John

Interesting!
Perhaps a Swedish-American immigrant bought them, then moved back to Sweden and brought them with him?

While I have no guesses as to how these needles traveled the way that they did (
Fredrik‘s guess is as good to me as any other), I wanted to get up a few more Grey Gull images for our
stock avatar gallery, and so I cut the Grey Gull logo out of the needle packet above.
Enjoy!

Here is the notice from the bottom of the needle packet—mostly cut in case anyone would like to use it as an avatar, but it is a good reminder.
IMPORTANT
Use needles once only and save wear on records
