Here's a Silvertone I have here in oak. Nice machine, plays well, does a decent job on verticals and the cabinet is striking in person, the pictures don't do it justice. Mike

I've always loved the look of beautiful tiger striped oak no matter the make...and thats a nice touch to have the reproducer holder,too. Bet it sounds as good as it looks.

A beautiful Silvertone.. A much underrated machine in many cases. The table model I had at one time had the clearest sound I had heard for that type of machine. They produced some very nice cabinets as well, yours is one of them.

Very handsome. The cabinet is almost certainly made by Pooley. Only very small details indicate this is a lower priced machine- the grain on the front doors is well selected but on a Victor it would be a mirror match. Don't think I'm nit picking, this is a real beauty.

Thank you everyone for the great comments. This is how it came into the house too, it needed only the springs to be hooked back up and there was no felt on the turntable. I can not resist an oak cabinet and this one was one of those strange bargins so bringing it home was a no brainer.

Jerry, as we collect, it is very enjoyable to see the many different machines besides Victrolas. I have brought home many off brand machines which lends variety to the collection

Dave, the grain looks like it came right off the tiger's back in some spots. It does play well, but I don't care for the Silvertone sound box too much

I just acquired a similar machine, mostly because of the nice wood, and the Victrola-esque cabinetry.

Mine is a little soft-spoken, but I need to properly rebuild the reproducer.


For years I always sniffed at Silvertone talking machines, probably due to my being less than impressed by their radios of the '30's & '40s, but I am starting to think better of them...

Very pretty machine I saw a table top for about $50 a while back but I don't remember where it was oak too
