GoJo vs. Goop

I just picked up a Victrola XVII that needs a really good cleaning.
I was out of GoJo, so took a ride to the local hardware store.
They were out of GoJo, but had Goop.
It looks very similar.
Any difference?
Thanks,
Gene

I've used both and have seen no difference in the results. I assume it's just different brands of the same stuff.

I think most of those white cream-type hand cleaners are a mixture of mineral spirits, lanolin, and such.

Just take care to avoid anything with grit (pumice or walnut-shells) ... ;)

What type veneer and finish ?

Before and after pics ?

Thank you Andreas and Frank!
I'll post the before pictures tonight.
I've taken off decades of black dirt and grime with white paper towels and the Goop cleaner.
Underneath is what I hope will be a diamond in the ruff. :D

I was told to clean my Pathé Actuelle with Gojo, so I went out to buy some and have been using it. Mine is cherry flavor and has pumice in it. Is that wrong? No, I don't eat it.

Hope that's a joke…. :)

Non-pumice is the way to go: you want to clean the finish, not abrade it….

My bottle of GoJo says Cherry Gel Pumice Hand Cleaner. Did I buy the wrong kind? It was the last bottle they had at Home Depot.

Yes, you definitely bought the wrong kind! You want the non-pumice kind, otherwise you're going to really scratch up your cabinet's finish.

If you have a Harbor freight Tools near you, they carry both small tubes and a large, 4.5 lb. tub of non-pumice Goop at reasonable prices. They also always have coupons in the newspaper for 25% off any item.

The pumice scratching the finish isn't the worst issue - it leaves behind little granules when you're cleaning the stuff off.
