Hello there!
If anyone has an HMV 193 or 194 gramophone, especially in the states, I would be interested in speaking with you! Feel free to send me a private message or email. (Yes, I know it's a very long shot).

That's a strange way to sell something as rare and coveted as this model is! Why cap the price at £1995 and then accept offers? To my mind that's similar to holding an auction in reverse ie. the price will only go down, not up!
The condition is okay and it has the correct soundbox, but it is NOT perfect by any means. The lid needs to be properly refinished and there are some visible knocks out of the cabinet here and there. I would have thought £1995 was okay really. I'll bet the No. 34 motor needs an overhaul. How much would a pristine example fetch today?

I appreciate folks drawing my attention to this piece. Thank you! However, this HMV 193 is definitely a project, and I have more projects than I can handle. I scarcely need another one, even if it is an example of a model that I hope to add to my collection at some point.

Too late, it's sold for the asking price anyway! I'm not surprised at all. A discerning buyer has a great machine. Something tells me a dealer bought this though. And probably a continental dealer at that!

For the condition, it seemed like a fair price. Unfortunately, I just have too many projects on hand right now.
