Has anyone tried the rubber belting offered by " edisonguy " on e-bay ?

It would seem that a rubberized- fabric belt would probably offer more grip and less stretch than the traditional leather belt...

I know on my shaving machine, I have switched to o rings, and they work great on the high speed abuse from shaving for hours on end.

For all the talk of collectors for maintaining originality..the use of rubber belts seems contradictory.
Leather belts work just fine if you now how to splice the ends together.

I'm interested in something that offers better performance ( ie: less slipping )...

If flat leather belts were the best thing in the world, they would still be in widespread use...

I'm not talking about an irrevocable alteration to the machine, just exploring the viability of a different type of belting.

I have no personal experience with rubber belts, but I others have said that they are not very good.

Right on Dave. If you put a new leather belt on correctly, it will not slip and last for another 100 years.

Phoo. I guess I am not worthy.

I guess I should just chuck all my cylinder players in the fireplace then, and enjoy the heat as they burn.
