Yep, the belt fixed it. Sounds like a quiet motor, too! Is that a reproduction grille?

The motor is very quiet for a Fireside motor. I went through the whole thing and made sure everything was in good condition and well oiled.
It is an original grill. When I got it, the paint had been removed from the front so I painted it the same color as the back. Maybe a bit redder than the backside paint. I was going to attempt to add some wood graining to it, but my test runs were pretty awful. Figured it would be best to leave it as it is. I suppose I could paint it a darker color, more closely resembling the mahogany finish...

The Fireside motor was most excellent! I have a D-X, and even with my head virtually under the lid, I can hear only the faint whirr of governor weights through the air. My solid oak X with Gem-type motor, on the other hand, grinds like a truck.
Your grille looks fine - I just wondered about the plain orangish color. It's probably a good base for graining.

Strange that the first round of bids was so low Cliff. Your presentation of the machine was excellent. Not being willing to ship it could be the culprit. Drastically reduces the buyer pool.
