Hi
I am seeking more information on the Amberola 2A. Years of production, a total production of the machines, and a estimate on how many may still be in existence. Any information on the machine is helpful.

There was no "Amberola II" (or, as you put it, "Amberola 2A.") Do you Seek information on the Amberola 1A?

As noted, there was no Amberola II. There were 2 versions of the I, the IA and the IB. Might it be the latter you are thinking about?

A 3-part article on the Amberola 1A and 1B appeared in the March, June, and September 2009 issues of The Sound Box (now published as The Antique Phonograph). (You can subscribe and/or order back issues at http://www.antiquephono.org.) The Amberola 1B appeared in late August/early September 1911 with serial numbering beginning around 3500. Approximately 1500 1Bs were manufactured by the end of production in 1914. As for the number of survivors, that's always a guess. Conventional wisdom estimates a 10% survival rate, so that would suggest around 150...but that's only a guess.
