HELP with Record Cabinet

I need some help identifying this record cabinet. Dimensions are 16 ¾ x 20 ½ x 34. Looks to be a tabletop Victor cabinet - any thoughts as to which phonograph matches? The measurements from the centers of the depressions are 14 ⅝ x 18 ⅜. Al

My guess it's for either a Victrola VIII or IX.

I suspect Harvey's correct about a VV-IX as a good machine for your cabinet. All VIII's are oak so that's not a good candidate. Generally, when a cabinet is deeper than the width, that feature suggest a table model internal horn machine. Jerry

Thanks Harvey & Jerry. As suspected, a Victor internal horn. I have to search among the skeletons to see if I have a VV-IX. Al

Sorry, my bad. I couldn't tell from the picture if the cabinet is Mahogany or Oak. Anyway, a Victrola IX will look good on it.

while on the subject of record cabinets, I ran into this problem recently. I thought it was the perfect base for my IX, but it just doesn't fit. Any idea's on what machine actually goes on here?

I have seen this with "Cabinet That Matches" before. There is a different size in early and later production machine cabinets. The Vic 6 comes to mind. You may want to see if your Victrola's cabinet size was changed over it's production.

You got it Wayne. The IX changed over time. I have a push cart made for a IX but the machine that came with it was in poor shape. I bought a 2nd one, with a matching record cabinet and intended to use the machine for the push cart and sell the other cabinet. I was dismayed to find out that the machine just wasn't quite right. Eventually, I found one with a suffix "G" that worked. It may be that the same "G" machine would fit on the cabinet shown here.

I looked at www.victor-victrola.com/Ix.htm. It is the Victor-Victrola VV-IX page. There is a picture of a later IX with a matching cabinet. You can see the cabinet is cut out on the top to fit the feet of the IX. My cabinet (pictured) has a flat top with depressions for which, I assume, fit a ball foot of some kind. I suppose that a VV-IX with a flat bottom will fit? Al
