Looking for someone to re-nickel my Victor tone arms, maybe some other items as well. I haven't had this done in a long time. Looking for someone actively doing this with reasonable rates. Thanks.

Rod is plating. Good guy with decent prices. Here's a link.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but this is related to nickle plating. I have a small Columbia horn that needs to be re-plated. It is the small one used on the "Q", "B", etc. I contacted Rod from the website Amberola posted, but the tank is too small to accommodate the horn. Does anyone know who can re-nickle the Columbia horn?

From the photos I see, after replacing, the parts are reflective, but appear somewhat hazy, with no definitive reflection. The original parts reflect like chrome, but have a warmer type of reflection. If he could polish them to reflect like originally, I'd be all for it, but the representative photo leads me to think otherwise.

I had Victrola Repair Service (the link above) re-nickel the parts on my Victor III. You can see the results in this thread:

The reason I like them, and that they are so good in my opinion, is because they come back looking like well cared for originals, not the perfect mirror finish you get with ordinary plating shops that destroys all sense of age. Someone looking for a just-out-the-factory-door restoration would likely not be happy with this approach, though.

With all the respect I can garner I must say my hair hurts after reading this post.I have never read or experienced the use of the word "reflect" or it's conjugation that many times in three mere sentences! But I am sure I will reflect one day on this refection as I find time for the appropriate reflective.
Quality comes with a price. Here in New York are many plating companies that service the needs of " weekend warriors" along with industrial users. As the saying goes----you get what you pay for. Gerard

You get what you give them in plating as well. If the original is not polished no amount of plating will get you a mirror finish.
