I just wanted to let everyone know that there are two new articles on the APS website that we hope will be of interest to collectors.

The first is just for fun: "The Origins of the Antique Phonograph Society." It features sections on the formation and development of MAPS (Michigan Antique Phonograph Society) and CAPS (California Antique Phonograph Society); both of which were the genesis of the new Antique Phonograph Society. These sections were written by founding members of each organization, and include photos of participating collectors back in the 1980s, some of whom are no longer with us.

The second article is Harold Braker's ground-breaking work, "Victor/Victrola Motor Identification and Repair." First published over 20 years ago, it has reappeared in limited-distribution collector publications and has undergone some revisions over the years. With Mr. Braker's kind permission, the APS is proud to make this reference readily available to collectors around the world. We believe it will prove to be a helpful resource for a much wider audience.

Simply click the "Articles" button on the toolbar, then "All" on the drop-down menu.

While there, you might wish to join your friends and colleagues by becoming a member and receiving our journal, The Antique Phonograph. The "Join Us" button is also on the toolbar!

Thank you George, I will look in on these articles. So far, I have been unable to download R.J. Wakeman's Brunswick articles. Not sure what the problem is, have tried many times. Mike

Mike, I'm sorry you've had difficulty in downloading Mr. Wakeman's Brunswick book. Others have had trouble as well (as you can read on this thread: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =2&t=15299), but most seem to be successful. My guess (based upon comments in the referenced thread) is that it's your computer, ISP, or perhaps the governor...oops - I just exceeded my knowledge base!

Mike, at first I was having trouble downloading it also. But after downloading the latest Adobe software the Brunswick book loaded smoothly and completely. I'm not smart enough with the computer to know if that's the answer but it seemed to work for me. I didn't think my old Adobe version was that old but it wasn't the latest.

George, great articles to add to the APS site. The Victor motor chart is a excellent reference and now everyone knows where it's at when they need it, instead of knowing they had a copy of it somewhere but can't find it.

I need to let folks know that this afternoon I added 10 additional pages to Harold Braker's Victor Motor Guide now on the APS website (http://www.antiquephono.org.). This is a 2013 supplement devoted to repair, and the engineers among us will enjoy the materials that Mr. Braker has prepared.
