O…….K………. :?

So, somebody had an empty Amberola cabinet, and put DD works in it -

or else they had some DD works, and found an Amberola cabinet….

I hope they're not trying to pass it off as a 'prototype' A-250…

Note that the cabinet has been stripped of its finish. The Edison logo was saved, the dark edges from the old finish remain. That Edison logo would not be on a Amberola 2A cabinet. It is also odd the the wood around the bedplate is missing. There is another photo that I did not post that showing a portion of the Data Plate. What could be read was the word Disc. Maybe this is one of those units they let an employee make and have?

Plus we had an earlier thread about refinishing around a decal. This appears to be an example of a worked around decal. It's too bad the decal wasn't replaced. On second thought, if it was originally an Amberola 1-A or B, it should have the Amberola decal on the under side of the lid top. To the best of my knowledge, the Amberola III was the only big Amberola to have the fancy "Amberola" decal or the "Edison" decal. I don't know what we have here. Both the lid and lower cabinet were originally built to house a cylinder mechanism. Look at the area of the cabinet around the mechanism. It looks like dark fumed oak. I'm confused, it's late and I'm going to bed. Goodnight, Jerry

What was the asking price for this and location? It appears to be a very late Amberola 1B cabinet and the works appear to be from a B-200 or C-200 model. I have had the complete works for a 1B for many years and have been looking for an Amberola 1B cabinet. Refinished or not the oak 1B cabinets are very scarce.

I saw this machine as well and I thought-I just got an A-250 and had only 2 drawers was this a variation...and then I saw the notch on the right side of the machine and said "Ah Ha"...

This is on Craigslist either San Antonio or Denver-how do I know that-I have kids in both places and check there often.
If you cannot find it let me know.

I think this might be from when the factory was using up old cabinets and sending some out the back door.

I'm picking up a VV-XVII in Denver in early June and could pick this up as well. Jerry

Jerry has a point: the works are definitely not from an A-250.

Note the absence of corner decoration on the bedplate, and the projection for the lift lever…
