My buddy's freind has this interesting portable phonograph I wanted to know the history behind this company has I've tried searching the web and can't get anything on this company thanks everyone.

Looking carefully at the logo, it's actually Pulwel. The "W" looks very much like a "V". But even that was little help. I spotted only one reference in Google Books, but it's a snippet view so I can't access it. Making things more confusing, they spelled it "Pulwell." See: http://books.google.com/books?id=W2o5AQ ... My guess is that this is a low-end Canadian model, circa 1929-1931, made by or sold by Pollock-Welker.

I have the same machine! Kind of a dinky cheap machine, with a one spring motor and a cheap soundbox. Pollock-Welker made several portables. Another portable Pollock-Welker I have is the "Comrade", a more significant machine. I would guess this was probably their cheapest model
