I love the innovative record storage of the oak cabinet and at $225 it looks like a bargain to me. The mahogany cabinet looks like a variation of a record cabinet in my collection. The detail and level of craftsmanship seem a step down. I wonder if it's a well made copy. Jerry

I think that the second cabinet is a sheet music cabinet.

I like the oak cabinet also, and also consider it a real bargain. No, make that an outright steal! If it were local, it would already be at my place unless somebody beat me to it.

I don't know what you concider a bargain but here in the N/E a cabinet of that stature would be concidered a real bargain at that price.

I have to relocate into the south. LOL

I talked with the guy about the oak 78 cabinet. Its very small at 16 by 16. 225.00 is a deal though.

The oak cabinet shown is a real bargain, indeed. Sure it needs restoration with the record slats, but worth it. It is very early, maybe Hawthorne& Sheble?? I have a cabinet similar to that that I paid $350.00 for it. Whoever live near the seller, go for it and get it restored.

Agreed the oak cabinet has a nice look to it, but I still wouldn't stow my records in that fashion. If I thought I could flip it for something better, that would be dandy. It simply has no use to me at that price.

That size would be just the thing for sitting many models of table top phonograph on top. Lots of cabinets were made with that in mind.

Perhaps, but Salter had several models of record cabinets set up this way for horizontal record storage. The acid test would be whether the shelves were covered with something soft like felt. If so, then it is a record cabinet for sure. I can't tell from the photos.

Also, the space between shelves would seem to be not very practical for sheet music. If it were of a smaller size it could slip toward the back of a shelf and be very hard to retrieve.

I don't find either of these specific cabinets in Tim and George's accessories books.
